Tools I use in my daily intuitive development practice

(disclaimer: there aren't many)

My sister, a talented intuitive who passed away last year, left me all of her stuff. The girl had STUFF: dozens of boxes of Tarot cards, every type of crystal on planet earth, candles, beads, oils, pendulums (The pendulums! SO many pendulums.) - you name it. I am also a decent energy reader but I am not a stuff person.

Meditation and spiritual rituals are very personal, and you don’t need a single thing but time and attention. If you want some good-vibe elements to make your intuitive practice your own, here are some things I love.

Binaural Beats Playlists

When I sit down to listen inward or reflect, I almost always put on binaural beats.

Binaural beats are sound patterns designed to support specific brainwave states — calm, focused, or meditative. When you listen to two slightly different frequencies in each ear (with headphones), your brain interprets the difference as a rhythmic beat — and tends to sync to it.

This process is called brainwave entrainment. It helps you get into that meditative sweet spot.

Or a guided meditation

Listen, sometimes I don’t have time for the whole 20-minute ordeal. Sometimes I have, like, 3 minutes (even though 15-20 minutes is WAY better). Of course, I couldn’t find any 3-minute sitting-in-the-power meditations, so I created one of my own. If I’m able to, I actually meditate twice a day: I do this one in the morning and a longer one in the evening. Here’s my (totally free) mini-meditation for when I’m crunched for time.

2. Candles — Specifically the super drippy kind

I don’t need candles to smell like anything, but I do like meltiness. Lighting a candle marks the moment, and blowing it out at the end calls all my energy back into my body.

You can find these long, melty candles at the grocery store, a spiritual shop, or even Amazon.

A journal & pen

I love paper and pens. I keep a notebook next to me during meditations because I often get intuitive hits I need to write down before I forget. Okay, fine, I have LOTS of journals going at any time. One for meditations, one to jot down dreams, one for grocery lists, errants, the list goes on. Here are my favs:

3. Any crystal that makes you happy

Sometimes I like to hold a stone when I meditate or journal. Not because it changes my energy — but because it once belonged to someone who I loved very much, and I want to invite her essence into my practice.

Any stone you like works. A lot of people believe crystals have a specific vibe for a purpose. If you find one that’s meaningful to you and hold onto it when you need that vibe, you’re sending an energetic invitation for that energy to come on in.

5. A Sunlight Blocking Eye Mask

This one’s purely practical.

If I’m having a hard time focusing, or I’m in a bright space, I’ll use an eye mask to create darkness and quiet. This one is cheap. It’s foam. It’s not fancy. It works.

Again, none of these tools are required. But having a few small things that support your focus — and that create a sense of intention around your practice — can make a difference.
